Release of Loch Lomond 50 Year Old is five decades in the making, with Glencairn Crystal helping to produce the exclusive premium bottle.

A Half-Century in the Making

Loch Lomond Whiskies has introduced its latest premium offering: a 50-year-old single malt whisky. Distilled in 1973 using the distillery’s unique straight-neck pot stills and 100% unpeated malted barley, this extraordinary spirit is limited to just 100 individually-numbered bottles worldwide.

Crafted with Care

Aged in a mix of refilled American oak casks, first-fill bourbon casks, and Oloroso sherry hogsheads, this single malt’s journey has been carefully overseen by master blender Michael Henry. The whisky’s complex maturation process includes six years in bourbon casks imparting rich, creamy vanilla notes, followed by six years in Oloroso sherry casks, which add nutmeg and warming cinnamon flavours.

A Tribute to Tradition and Innovation

This rare whisky is a testament to Loch Lomond’s legacy of innovation. The distillery, known for its straight neck pot stills since 1966, creates a lighter spirit with distinctive fruit flavors. The 50-year-old expression showcases notes of white flesh fruits, crisp citrus, and a tropical character, reflecting its remarkable age.

Elegantly Presented

The 50-Year-Old’s lead crystal decanter, crafted by Glencairn Crystal Studio, features copper finishes and a natural oak display cabinet inspired by Loch Lomond’s unique stills and the surrounding forests. The cabinet includes a 50ml sample and a hardback book detailing the whisky’s journey.

A Rare Opportunity

Available at cask strength (42.6% ABV), non-chill-filtered and natural in color, this exceptional whisky is priced at £25,000. For more details, visit the Loch Lomond Whiskies website.

Master distiller Michael Henry reflects, “Re-casking a whisky of this quality and age was a careful decision. The result is a truly special single malt that offers a window into our past and captures the original style of whisky making at Loch Lomond Distillery.”
